Karatdao: tradable vs. soulbound NFTs

KaratDAO pairs tradable Validator NFTs with soulbound Karat ID tokens in Karat Network's dual-NFT model. The roles differ in transferability and in their connection to referral counts or user credentials.

Updated -

Validator NFT
Tradable NFT for influential leaders, linked to referral count; minting requires payment.
Karat ID
Soulbound token for users, backed by their credentials, with an on-chain profile and name service. Minting also requires payment.

Transferability and credential backing

Trading allows a Validator NFT to change holders, while Karat ID's soulbound design keeps the identity token non-transferable.

For Karat ID, credential backing concerns the user's identity data. Karat Network encrypts and verifies social accounts through MPC and creates verifiable credentials from Web2 data.

Role selection checklist

  • If transferability matters, the Validator NFT is the tradable role; Karat ID is the soulbound option.
  • If your purpose is an on-chain profile and name service backed by your credentials, focus on Karat ID.
  • If you plan to mint either token, account for the payment requirement attached to that role.
